Adding a new milestone in the journey of Fine Food & Wine
 
The countdown for the 6th IFOWS – India International Food & Wine Show - has begun. As we gear up to unveil the most illustrious global fine food and wine platform in India, it gives me immense pleasure to put in your hands the first edition of L'APÉRITIF. Not just a festival magazine that promises to capture the spirit of IFOWS, but one that will offer you a priceless perspective of the burgeoning market for wines, fine foods and other FMCG products in the Indian sub-continent.

The food and wine industry in the Indian sub-continent is coming alive with strong interest at the professional, institutional and consumer level. As the cosmopolitan Indian learns to appreciate the subtleties of wine and fine food, L'Apéritif raises a toast to this new India, dotted with growth and expansion in the sector.

     

The latest trends, famous personalities' take on wine, food lore, expert views on the industry and natty columns by leading Indian and foreign writers will highlight each edition. With so much packed in one reader friendly format, L'Apéritif is bound to be a collector's item both for professionals as well as food and wine enthusiasts.

Your friendly guide, it accompanies you through three days at IFOWS, traversing picturesque vineyards scattered throughout the wine world, delighting and pampering you with the culinary secrets of some of India's legendary chefs.

The timing of its launch is also perfect. The sixth edition is a veritable cherry on the top. Five illustrious editions have seen one hundred plus events taking you through the finer nuances of fine living, wining and dining. IFOWS wine tastings, organized in collaboration with renowned experts from all over the world, IFOWS Culinary Cup, India's most unique chef competition based upon the theme of cooking with wine, the fabled Gourmet Safari that carries a bus load of gourmands through the city tasting varied cuisines, the Culinary Affaire…each event has created a special niche for itself.

Given the acute shortage of professional sommeliers and wine waiters in India, and the long term positive effects that a well established sommelier community can have on the growth of wine industry in India, we at IFOWS have organized a sommelier training programme. Starting with the 6th edition, this will be a regular feature of the show.

During the last 5 years, more than 500 exhibitors from over 20 countries have showcased over 6,000 wines, food products and related services in India, using IFOWS as a launch pad with a large number of them acquiring coveted space on the shelves of many bars, supermarkets, hotels, restaurants and other outlets.

We now feel ready to take the next big step and establish the show as THE PLATFORM for India's fine food and beverage industry, L'Apéritif being its voice.
